The Dublin Walking Club was established in the 1970s by a group of friends who all shared an interest in the great outdoors. Four decades on the club still retains the enthusiasm for walking and companionship that inspired its founders.
We have:
- Long walks that take place on every second Saturday. Short and medium walks on Sundays and medium walks on two Wednesdays each month
- Social activities – occasional weekends away, a Summer Outing, a Christmas Party and a Club Holiday abroad every second year
- Ad hoc activities organised by members
- Our newsletter, ”Footprints”, which is sent to members every second month and contains details of forthcoming walks, their grading, their leaders, time and place of meeting points and an outline of the areas to be walked
- A constant emphasis on safe walking
- Some 100 members. New members are always welcome.
A full programme of walks are offered to our members. These walks are graded, so whether you want a challenging walk or something more relaxed, we have the walks for you! You can find out more on theOur Walks Page
In the Dublin Walking Club, we place a constant emphasis on safe walking. Club members and visitors are reminded that hill walking, climbing and rambling are activities that can be dangerous and result in personal injury or worse. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks. Each person is personally responsible for their own actions and involvement in any of the Club’s activities. All walkers should wear suitable walking gear and footwear and follow the instructions of walk leaders.
